I so forgot to move the tab or change it or whatever I am supposed to do to lead you to the Diary of Fatty blog. I decided that it really needed its own page because my fatness is just THAT awesome and well, I got tired of editing the ONE post like a bazillion times. So ... until I figure out how to change it so you can just click and they are really merged/connected as one ... www.banded052312.blogspot.com
funny thing is .. i was just RE-banded (long story, but you can find the answer if you follow the link) and so now it should be banded020113 LOL

What The What?!
So, it isn't THAT dramatic, but it has been a while since I have checked in. While I am checking in on my weight loss journal weekly since daily has become mundane, I do find it necessary to just take a step back and collect my thoughts. It isn't until you put it down on paper that you really "see" or get a sense of what you really have going on in your own world. Since sharing my story here under my "diary of a fatty" tab, I have felt more open and honest than ever. I hid behind my fat and flaws for so long that they became my crutch and wall. Now that I am losing weight and have shared my story in all its raw glory, it seems that I am able to move forward and be the change I want to see in the world. I know that sounds a little cliche, but honestly, it wasn't until I wrote my story down and read it and re-read it that I was in awe of how far I have come and how my fat held me back for so long. I feel more vulnerable and open now that I have put it out there for any and everyone to read, but most of all, for the first time ever I DON'T CARE what anyone has to think of where I was, where I have been or where I am going. This is my journey and for the first time in a long time, NO ONE can or will be able to make me feel inferior without my consent. It took me a long time to believe that. This journey has really just begun and there is still so much in store. If you haven't read my fat girl journey diary yet, it is worth the read. Of course, I am biased.
There are so many things coming up this month and moving forward.
I am so honored and proud to announce that I am now part of the Forward Circle program with True Results. True Results is the place I went to get my Lap-Band done. After going to several aftercare meetings and seeing the posters on the wall about the Forward Circle program, I finally asked about it on my last visit. I contemplated and thought about it and overall just wanted to be more active in the Lap-Band community. I got the paperwork and after two weeks I sent it over. Long story short, now I can be part of the sharing community. I will share my story and be there to help with any questions or concerns from people that are interested in the Lap-Band surgery and those that have just had the surgery. I am just 4 months out from my surgery, but by not giving up and asking questions and checking in, I have already succeeded in my weight loss journey. I found myself looking for answers and support, so now I can BE that support! YAY! I am so excited about this! I love giving back! If you or anyone you know is interested in the Lap-Band surgery and would like more information or wants the REAL truth being that I have been through this and I don't get paid to tell you to do this or not do this, please feel free to share my information. You have questions, I have answers or I can get answers. Period.
In other news, I am taking my last two classes online to finish my degree. It is just the two year degree, but I want to say that I finished something! God willing, I will graduate this December. Once I get this done, then I can reassess and will know how I handled being a single working and crafting mother to a rambunctious almost 4 year old boy. At some point I will have to remember that I can't do it ALL at one time, but will get everything I want to get accomplished one step at a time.

I have gotten the expanded version of the book Hope for the Weary Mom by Stacey Thacker and Brooke McGlothlin. I am going to delve in to this ebook that was sent to me, as the first time I read it there were several "ah-ha" moments and I felt like they were speaking straight to my heart and soul. This book is so right on time and these women are phenomenal. Thank you ladies for allowing me to be one of the first to get my hands on this not yet released book! https://www.facebook.com/HopeForTheWearyMom
Being that holiday season is coming up, I have great crafting ideas in my head and I have begun to put them in to action. I need a vacation from my crafting addiction!! Being that Justice is now in a daycare where the ladies really appreciate the things they are given, the craft ideas just seem to flow from my head to my hands and into reality. I can't wait to share the Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas crafts that I have in store for these teachers! They are a blessing!
I am still writing my monthly articles for Inner Child Magazine in the Family section. It is a honor and blessing to be a part of such a wonder family. I am able to share my journey with my son and somehow it all just works. Divine timing is all I can say. www.innerchildmagazine.com/family
I am now a great aunt to the handsome Brayden. I am so glad that I am able to be a part of his life.
Gosh, what else? Well, I am still pimping out Mary Kay. I don't do it like I should, so it isn't profitable for me and I am sure that my director could just strangle me sometimes, but I do still have stock that will soon be up for sell and ON SALE for the holiday season.
I am walking in the Autism walk this year. If you care to donate to this cause, please click the link. Thank you for your support. http://www.kintera.org/faf/donorreg/donorpledge.asp?ievent=1012946&supId=358415728&msource=bfschedule

Blog Hop
I decided to join in with The Mob Society and be apart of this awesome thing called Boy Mom Blog Hop.
I didn't join last year, but not because I didn't want to. I was still in a fog of depression and just going through the motions. A year's worth of coming out of the fog and here I am.
About me: Amber, 34. Single mom to Justice. Full time employee, full time mom and part time smart mouth. Okay, maybe a little more than part time, but I am working on it! I have worked full time at the same company since 1998. It has been a real growing experience and they are like family. I also sell Mary Kay. I tried my hand at making earrings for a while, but just like with the Mary Kay, I don't push the products. The jewelry is a labor of love and the makeup is purely therapeutic for me. I am in hopes that as my journey continues I will be successful in all my ventures. Lord knows that I need to sell some of the products in order to keep up my jewelry making and makeup ordering habit! This single mom has to work hard for the money!

| It's me! Amber...nice to meet you! |
A brief summary: I was born way back in yesteryear when .... no we don't need to go back that far. My life really began the moment I found out I was pregnant in May of 2008. It was also at that time that the father of my child showed his true self and no longer was the man I had known for 10+ years. Suddenly the thought of another child turned him stupid and our friendship and relationship went spiraling down to what is now three years later a series of bitter texts and jabs that are mostly from me to the man that used to be a really good friend and someone I could talk to. Now our conversations are filled with disdain and while I pray that we can have better communication skills for the sake of our son, I fear that I am the only one that wants to be cordial for the kids. So here I am 3 1/2 years later and only getting child support because the court is making him pay back child support or he goes to jail. He is bitter and I am resentful. I pray that along this journey I will continue to grow and set a better example for my son.
Justice is 3 1/2 (4 in December) and full of spunk. I have been working on getting him out of my bed. Just when I had him in his own bed, the apartment got cursed with bed bugs and suddenly mama's bed is the safe bed and he "gets scared" otherwise. Justice has been getting in trouble quite a bit more lately. I am not sure if it has anything to do with him not seeing his brothers and father or not. He asks about his brothers and every Friday he says "i'm going to my daddy's house this weekend" when he tells someone what he is doing for the weekend. For the last 2 months he hasn't gone. Not because I haven't let him, but because his father hasn't made the effort to come and get him. I worry that I am just not enough for this little boy. I worry the example that his father is setting and I pray that my son will be a better man in the end.

My blog: Well, it has a bit of this and that. I have tabs for the various things I write about. Different tabs for different moods I suppose. I have one for my weight loss journey, one for my dealings with the baby daddy, one for my articles I write for an online publication, one for the 21 Days of Prayers for Boys challenge and a few others that are hidden from view as they are for my private posting pleasure.
I started my blog with the intention on having just the challenges and what not on here, but it has evolved into what I call my life at a short glance. I have found blogging the cheapest and most easy form of therapy. I laugh, cry, spew sarcasm, cry and laugh some more with every time I reread the sections from the start to where I am now. It is amazing to read the transformations within me as I learn and grow. All along I am bettering myself so that I can be the best mom I can be for the only true love in my life which is my son Justice Christopher.
I want to give a special THANK YOU to Brooke McGlothlin for sharing her passion of the word for our boys. She inspires me to aspire to be more and do more all the time. She gifts us with these awesome prayer calendars and they truly are priceless. We just have to remember to put them to good use! Brooke, you have been an inspiration and a guiding light to me while I have been on my journey finding my way back to God after suffering the losses of my older sister (38) and my mother (55) in 2010. You mean more to me than you will ever know and I thank you wholeheartedly for just you being you. YOU ROCK!

Training, Working Out .. the good hurt OH MY!
So, I started working out last week. By working out, I mean that I started doing cardio. I didn't want to just dive in to working with weights since I wasn't cleared to really work the abs (core) yet, and the last thing I want is to have a set back. I mean .. I have had 30 years of set backs and fat ass, so why help put myself back in the game. I signed up at the gym, I got a trainer for once a week (25 minute sessions), and I have made a deal with myself. If I can get to the gym 5 days a week for a month, I will let myself go to PF Changs (in Highland Village of course because I just love love love the atmosphere and decor and it makes me feel rich when I go there even though on most days I don't have two pennies to rub together) and get the seared Ahi Tuna I have been craving. I actually have been craving the vegetarian lettuce wraps too.
So, I started with my trainer "D" on Monday. I call him "D", because for the life of me I can't remember his name and well I would hate to call him out of his name when he is being not my friend and making me do exercises that hurt! He pushed me to do exercises that I didn't want to do. I know that I have thunder thighs. There is no misconception here. I know that my legs have more fat than muscle. So putting that stair step with 4 risers in front of me and telling me to step up on that thing is like telling me to cut off my legs! That shit hurts. I worry about doing it because my ankles have enough trouble holding up my body without the added stress of the step down from that high. The up hurts in my thighs and knees. The down is scary in my head due to the knee ache and ankles that are crying for me to stop the insanity. I did the exercises though. I am not paying for a friend. I am paying for someone to show me how to work myself and not get hurt. I am paying for training on how to do the exercises that will work for my body shape. The shape that looks like a hourglass with an extra wide middle (extra minutes we will call it). I am glad to be working out again. I missed it. I am glad to feel motivated again. For once, the motivation is within me and not guided by the eye candy and companionship that was working out with James. I am glad to have motivation that isn't geared around anyone else. It is nice. Now that I am starting to believe in myself and see that I can do this for myself and not to get someone else's attention, well I am feeling more inspired than ever!
I did Zumba on Tuesday and I wasn't the biggest one there and I wasn't the slowest and I wasn't the only one without coordination! YAY for that! Being self conscious has always been my downfall. I have always worried about what other people think about me. Weird though, because I really don't care what other people think, I just never wanted other people to look at me. Now I could give two shits. So nice to be in this place. It is a happy place where I am feeling good and soon the outside will match the beauty inside.
I haven't figured out how to make the Diary of a Fatty the main page so that when I do updates emails are sent out, but if someone knows how to do it, then please let me know. I like that the story is all there in one place, but I wish it was where I could update and it would just fall in line. Perhaps I need to seek a different website for this to work right. Blogging isn't my forte, but has been a great release for me.
If you like what you are reading or even if you don't, please leave a comment. Feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Blogging Away!
So, I have decided that along with the 21 Days of Prayers for Boys, I am going to be blogging along my weight loss journey. I have been open and honest along my blogging and why should I stop now? I am not a celebrity like Star Jones, who felt it necessary to hide the fact that she had weight loss surgery. I want to share so that maybe one day my story will help someone else. Everyone has different circumstances and reasons for what and why they do what they do. I have a passion in my heart to help others and this will help me through sharing to help me grow.
Feel free to check out the two new tabs on my page. The 2012 #21Days4Sons and the Diary of a Fatty - My Journey.

STARTING THE CHALLENGE AGAIN
The 21 Days of Prayers starts again tomorrow. I am so excited. There is a twitter party #mobsociety #21days4boys that is going to be awesometastic. I can't wait to be with over 800 other mommies of boys and share the excitement of praying for our sons. This has been a blessing in the lives of myself and my son. Much gratitude to Brooke for writing this awesome book and to Alle for holding this years challenge for us.
I have started a 2012 challenge tab for my posts and answers to the questions during this challenge. I look forward to comparing and contrasting to where Justice and I are now compared to last year during the last challenge. I feel great things coming!
Blessings and Love!

2012 - Time for Change
Most of us have an aversion to change. However, in my renewed state of being, I am finding change to be something that I am actually looking forward to happening. How bizarre is that?!?!? I have found the need to change things in and around me so that things are new and exciting. Even if the things aren't knew, if you don't take a step back and look through "new" eyes, you will never really appreciate what it is that you do have in your life.
January will be full of new challenges and quests for me and Justice. I will be an Accountability Captain for the Hello Mornings Challenge. This is going to be a test of my strength, courage, conviction, faithfulness and overall test of my will to be accountable not only for myself, but for others. I feel a calling to be a leader and inspire other women. While I have my own difficulties, I know that I can't be the only one and if I can spare one woman from having to go through what I have in my journey thus far, then my life's mission will have been worth while.
I have also started a new website with the help and encouragement from Sandye from Halos711.org. I was lead to seeking an outlet to help other single parents and when I brought that calling to light and mentioned it to Sandye, she helped me by starting a website where I am able to help others. The website is just taking off, but I have high hopes for all that it can and will be.
I have come to realize that I will need to make some money, so I will be venturing back in to the Mary Kay scene, but not as full force as I didn't like feeling like I HAD to do certain things in order to progress.
My first and foremost obligations are to God, my child and myself. Any and everything else must come after I put priorities on those three. I just have to find a way to make it all work. Instead of dwelling and stressing, I am giving it to God. I am praying on it and I know that God will show me the way.
I am claiming 2012 for a year full of love, laughter, growth and change. 2010 was my year of loss, 2011 was my year of awakening and 2012 will be my year to shine!
I hope everyone has their boots on because we are about to run with it!

Monday! 9/12/11
With all the September 11 shows on tv last night, I struggled seeing all the pictures and videos of that day. It isn't something that I will likely ever forget. I know exactly where I was and what I was doing and I remember who was around and everything. While I am blessed that I wasn't there in that tragedy, I felt sadness, anger and pain for the people that went through that ordeal. The 9/11 memorial is quite beautiful. It is so nice that the loved ones that didn't get a body to bury have a place they can go and visit. I know it would be hard for me if I didn't have the cemetery to go and sit and be with my sister. It is hard just having my mother in an urn and not having a place to go and talk to her. Today is a brand new day and we were all blessed to awaken to the glorious morning that God has provided. I have to keep reminding myself that giving it to God isn't about giving him everything and not remembering the heartache and pain that I have endured in the last year and a half, but it is about taking the burden off my heart of the hurt and replacing that with the happy memories of my sister and my mother. I want to be that person of happiness and joy for me and my son. He needs to know that loss, while it is painful because that means that you truly loved that person and to love is to be Godly, doesn't mean that the person that leaves this earth isn't still with us. Such a beautiful thought to know that my mom and sister are still around me and Justice. I feel their presence every now and then. Then my son looks at me and asks me with his innocence where they are and he asks to see them. I ask him to show me the pictures on the walls where he sees my mom and sister. He does and does it so proudly. I just pray that he will remember them because they loved him so much. Almost as much as I do!

God is Love.
This has been my mantra and most certainly that has grown stronger within me this week. Tuesday was the start of the 21 Days Challenge and I am caught up and on track. I feel blessed to have been given the opportunity to stretch my leader abilities and give them a go for the first time. I feel honored to have such wonderful women in my group and grateful to Brooke for believing in me.
Friday of last week was the beginning of the Reiki course and while I am behind on posting information there, I feel so connected to this new group of students and reconnected to those in the class that were in my last back in July-August. This renewed sense of purpose has grown inside me and I know I was meant to be here right now doing exactly what I am doing and learning and teaching just as I am. God is Good!
I have stalled on the 30BBM, but rest assured that this too will be a challenge that will not defeat me! I have started and by golly I will finish! With that, this is just a kind note since the posts I make to individual pages are published, but no messages are sent out. I hope this is something that Blogger is working on.
I hope you all have a blessed and wonderful weekend. May your spirit be lifted and your faith restored. May you wrap your arms around your child and embrace the love that you were blessed with and as my Sandye from Halos says, "think about it".
Love and Belief,
~Amber~

September 5th!
Ok, so I am a day late and a dollar short. But, guess what .... I am here! Yesterday I was having a Steel Magnolias moment and I needed to get my emotions together. Today I am playing a bit of catch up since the things I wanted to accomplish yesterday didn't happen. My mother's birthday really hit me hard and I am not sure why other than perhaps I was pushing those feelings down and back so that I wouldn't have to deal with them at that moment. Yesterday, well those feelings decided that no matter where I was or what I was doing, it was time to release. So much for keeping it together at work.
With that being said, today is a brand new day and it is time to get it on and poppin! Challenges and quests to be started and met with great enthusiasm and want.
I challenge you to experience along with me as I delve in to my own journey and uplift my son and myself with prayer and ever growing knowledge and faith.
Blessings and love,
~Amber~

September 2nd!!!!!!!!
So, I have been swamped and yes I am making excuses, but today is a brand new day and it shall stop today! I am setting up reminders on my cell phone for every day at the same time to do my challenges. Each of my challenges do not take more than 30-45 minutes a piece and I am going to stagger each one for a different time of the day so I am less likely to hit the ignore button on my cell phone once all the challenges/quests are going on at the very same time. I am in hopes that this will help me to stick to this month of change for me. September will be the month of change for the better! Say it, Believe it, Achieve it! I've claimed it and so it is!
Today the Reiki Course starts again and I am so looking forward to being a part of the group as a support system for the new students. While it isn't mandatory for me to do the assignments for the Reiki course since I am a CPPBR (certified practitioner of prayer based reiki), I have decided that for my highest good, it would be best that I do the assignments again. The first time was a challenge because I had a lot of releasing and acceptance to do. Hard to do that when you aren't done with the grieving process. It is a process after all and there is no time limit or dead line to get it done by, so I have been grieving since March 20, 2010. Hit with that double whammy on April 11, 2010. I didn't realize how much I really endured until I sat down just now to think of what all I had to go through.
It just doesn't seem "natural" to be there planning your older sister's funeral (she was only 38) while you are trying to hold it together for a mom who has been ill for years and she is going through emotional turmoil over getting divorce papers the day before her oldest daughter passed away. On top of that, I came home on two occasions and my mom was passed out because her sugar had gotten too low. I beat myself up still that I didn't make her go to the ER or that I didn't call 911 to come the second time. I keep saying "if I had just made her go then she would have been one week ahead on antibiotics for the pneumonia we didn't know she had and then she would still be here" how shitty is that. The guilt that I have for being in such shitty emotional/physical/mental state that I couldn't see past the immediate days leading up to my sister being put in the ground that I missed my mom being deathly ill. Then my mom running a high fever and being told that she had the flu, H1N1 and pneumonia. It was the pneumonia that ultimately put her in ICU to the point that even life support wasn't sustaining her. Never once did I ever think I would be in the position to say that someone needed to come off life support because any further treatment would just be torture. It would have been selfish to keep my mom on life support and put her on Ecmo (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation). Ecmo being a last resort and it would have probably only kept her alive for a little bit longer. I know in my heart of hearts that my mom died of a broken heart. Broken because her husband left her and then filed for divorce, because her husband left her on the day that her youngest daughter got back from the trip of a lifetime to New York City (her first trip without family and a milestone for her) and then getting the divorce papers and then the final hammer hit to the nail in her heart was losing her oldest daughter without warning. My sister passing made my momma's will to live no longer really there. I thought that when Justice was born that she would have stuck around forever for him. I know that is naive to think, but I had hoped that Justice gave her a new reason to live. She was pissed at us for letting them take her right foot one toe at a time. By the time she came out of the fog of morphine, she had a below the knee amputation. She felt like a burden on everyone, but once she saw my boy, her face lit up again. Losing my sister drained her of that joy that she got from Justice. I know that neither of them would leave Justice on purpose, but I feel so blessed that they got to experience him and that he got to have them for the 15 months that he did. Dealing with all of that while Justice's father was being less than helpful and not paying child support. I so didn't and never would have thought that this is where my life would lead and these would be the trials and tribulations that I would have to endure to learn a lesson, but this is where I am and honestly, while writing this I have been brought to tears, which tells me that I still have some releasing, grieving and growing to do from these lessons.
So with that, it is almost time for the Reiki Webinar and I will post in the Reiki tab after the class is done.

Glorious Monday
I started to 30 BBM on Friday and got two days done rather quickly. Then, I had to deal with BD issues, so I got back off focus and haven't touched the 30 BBM. I am struggling with some kind of allergy skin condition effecting both me and Justice. I am about to lose my freaking mind over this itchy skin and whelps. I can only speculate that they are hives on me and that it is my nerves that is causing the problem, but then what is it on my kid. Ugh, this is driving me more insane than I already am. Needless to say, today and the next 3 days actually, I am going to focus on getting my assignments turned in before the new class starts on Friday. I need to step up my game and stop procrastinating when it comes to me. So, with that, I will hopefully get to post the next day in the 30 BBM today, if not then tomorrow, but I will do the day so that I get back on track. Why put off until tomorrow what I know I can do today. I see it like working out, if you stop then it takes a bit to get back in the habit of doing it, well I still haven't gotten back to the gym, but this skin stuff is itching me to death. I'll just work on my knowledge. Knowledge is power and I would rather be fat and smart that skinny and dumb. Just saying.
Until later,
~Amber~

It is Friday!
Yay for Friday!
One week until the Halos711 Reiki Webinar starts. I am so psyched for this and all who are taking this course. You will not be disappointed. I think you will be moved and find yourself once you start releasing the hurt that is in and on you. I am gearing up to start the 30 BBM. I decided not to wait until Sept. 1st. I want to get a jump on the challenges so that I am not starting them all at the same time. I really do think its great that these all happen to fall one week right after the other. I truly believe that everything happens for a reason and happens when it is supposed to happen. No coincidences around this camp. Divine intervention and preparation was done here. :D
I hope everyone has a beautiful and blessed weekend!
Love and Blessings,
~Amber~

ARE YOU READY?
Are you ready for the challenges? I mean ready in more ways than one. I just got my copy of the NEW Leader's Guide for the 21 Days of Prayer for Boys! I am soooo excited! I also made sure that I have my copy of the Warrior Prayers Ebook. I am so in excited and ready to start this!
I am getting my stuff together to begin the 30 day challenge. The current challenge is, of course, on DAY 25 since this challenge started on August 1st. I have been keeping a word document of each day as it is emailed to me so that I can have each day handy. I am undecided if I should wait to start this so that I am doing it all of September, or if I should start and just do it at my own pace. The point here being that this challenge is to be done one day at a time. Who keeps track? Well me in my case, but the Personal Excellence Blog has people commenting each and every day. You are responsible for yourself, but there is something to be said about being accountable to someone. Just sayin.
Yesterday afternoon, I got the email from the posting to Hello Mornings ~ Inspiredtoaction.com. Which means ... I GOT MY EBOOK! YAY!
I tell you, for someone who doesn't really like to read (math and science were my favorite subjects in school) I sure am excited about getting Ebooks and not just because they were free! Perhaps because I am creating habits from these "goals" that I have set forth for myself and all that will join me in this journey. I am in hopes that the staggering of the beginnings of each of these challenges will be helpful.
Just a reminder:
Halos711 Reiki Webinar Class starts September 2nd ~~ NEXT FRIDAY!
21 Days of Prayers for Boys starts September 6th ~ in less than 2 weeks!
Hello Mornings starts September 15th ~ 3 weeks from now!
So that leaves me with (AGAIN) when to start the 30 days to a better me.... I think between the 3 listed above, I should be a pretty well rounded and adjusted person, but what the heck... I will just throw the other challenge on top and hope that I get the push and support I need along the way to do all of these to the best of my ability and wholeheartedly.
Until tomorrow (or something comes to my mind)

Amber

And so it begins!
I decided to start a new blog to focus on the my journey to better myself, my son and my spirituality.
Upcoming events are:
21 Days of Prayer for Sons

"Be a Better Me in 30 Days” August Challenge – #30BBM

I am so looking forward to being committed to these challenges for the better of me and those I know.
I have come to realize that you are a reflection of the people you know. I hope that I am reflecting the positivity and growth I have made thus far and continue to do so as I know that these and all challenges and prayers are for my highest good. Thanks to the wonderful women who have inspired me to be more than I thought I could ever be. God certainly knew, I just needed to get out of my own way in order to live his way.
Love and Blessings,
Amber
